چکیده

OVERVIEW: Progress in medical imaging has led to remarkable advances in medical diagnosis technology. Nevertheless, the realization of advanced medical treatment requires functional imaging technology that is more practical. In contrast to morphological imaging, functional imaging captures information about the functioning of living tissues, such as blood circulation and oxygen metabolism, cerebral nervous system function and metabolic changes in various bio-materials. In recent years, progress in MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) technology has made it possible to measure circulatory system and cerebral nervous system functions in the form of images and MRI holds promise for realizing diagnostic functional imaging. MRI systems, however, are large and expensive, and they place many restrictions on the patient, which makes MRI impractical for small children and psychiatric patients in particular. There is thus a need for the development of a diagnostic system that is capable of advanced functional diagnosis, yet is not burdensome to the patient. Hitachi, Ltd. is developing an optical topography system that can make advanced brain function measurements conveniently without severe restrictions on the patient and is making progress in developing technology for the clinical application of that system. This work promises to make possible the advanced diagnosis of cerebral diseases in ordinary hospitals, whereas such diagnosis is currently available only in large medical centers. Comparison of Anterior Segment Measurements Obtained by Aladdin Optical Biometer and Sirius Corneal Topography

OBJECTIVES To assess the agreement of anterior segment parameter measurements derived from Aladdin optical biometer using optical low coherence interferometer and Sirius corneal topography using combined Scheimpflug-Placido disk. MATERIALS AND METHODS Data obtained using the Aladdin and Sirius systems from 110 eyes of 59 subjects who had no health problems other than refractive errors were re...

Distributed scanning volumetric SDOCT for motion corrected corneal biometry

We present a method, termed distributed scanning OCT (DSOCT), which reduces the effects of patient motion on corneal biometry utilizing current-generation clinically available spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SDOCT) systems. We first performed a pilot study of the power spectrum of normal patient axial eye motion based on repeated (M-mode) SDOCT. Using DSOCT to reduce the effects o...

Corneal thickness and elevation maps computed from optical rotary scans.

PURPOSE Recently, the authors presented a technique that allows corneal thickness measurements along any meridian from optical sections obtained using a rotary scanning system. This paper presents three-dimensional mapping of the corneal thickness and topography of both corneal surfaces, obtained with the rotary system. METHOD Corneal thickness and topography are computed from optical section...

On the Challenges in Stereogrammetric Fusion of Sar and Optical Imagery for Urban Areas

This paper discusses the challenges arising if SAR and optical imagery shall be fused for stereogrammetric 3D analysis of urban areas. In this context, a concept for SAR and optical data fusion is presented, which is meant to enable the reconstruction of urban topography independent of the type of the available data. This fusion is modelled in a voxelized object space, from which 3D hypotheses ...
